Make a Bowl with Paper Mache

Paper Mache is one of the most interesting crafts around.Using paper mache techniques, you can create almost anything with paper mache which is laying around your home right now.

Requirements:

1. Old newspapers
2. White gule
3. Bowl
4. Water
5. Salt
6. Spray paint
7. Beads for decoration
8. Gilliters of different colours (Optional)

Recipe of Paper Mache:

1. Tear the newspaper into tiny pieces and put them in a large bowl. Add just enough warm to hot water to completely cover the newspaper. Let soak overnight.
2. Once your newspaper has soaked for several hours,mix it with the hands, and squeeze it through your fingers until it looks like oatmeal.Try to get as many lumps out as possible. If necessary, add a bit more water and let it soak a little more.

4. Once you have it as smooth as possible, add a few tablespoons of salt to help retard mold. Mix it again with your hands. Once mixed thoroughly, squeeze out any excess water and add a few tablespoons of glue. Now you are ready to use your paper mache pulp
5. If you don't want to wait overnight, you can add your newspaper to boiling water and let it boil until the newspaper falls apart. You have to watch this carefully and possibly add extra water if necessary. You can also try letting your newspaper and hot water mixture sit for a few hours and then put it in a blender or food processor. Don't forget to add the glue and salt once your mixture is smooth.
6. Store your pulp in an air tight baggie or bowl in the refrigerator for several days.

Method:

Firstly take a any bowl,its will be use as a mold. Take the normal amount of the paper mache which is your bowl requirement . Now paste it paper mache pule on your bowl. Make sure your bowl should be compeletly cover with this paper mache pulp. Continue the process until your mold is entirely covered. Place up to four layers of newspaper on the mold and set it aside. Now your bowl is ready for decoration you can decorate it with beads,sea shells,stones,mirror etc (Remember this you can decorate your bowl with different things when it is wet. After the decoration of your bowl,allow it to dry for 2-3 days When it will be dry after 2 days your paper mache bowl will automatically seperate with the mold. Now apply spray paint for a finishing look. Here is ready your handmade paper mache bowl.
